Misc: Granaboard appreciation thread... :)

heh, I apologise if this kind of topic seems somewhat superfluous, but I truly must convey the fact that in my opinion, Granaboard is awesome [img]smile.gif[/img]

The reason why I think this, is simply because of all the compelling discussions and interesting opinions which have been expressed by everyone over the duration of the existance of this message board (or at least, the period with which I am familiar).

Personally, I believe that it has had a substantial influence on the way in which I percieve a vast majority of different issues (i.e. Religion, science, the universe, psychological perceptions of people, sexism, politics, etc....). Not too long ago, I tried to speculate on how I would mentally percieve certain issues had I not ever been introduced to this message board, and I seriously reckon that I would have been a lot less content with my knowledge of the world, would be less capable of conveying my opinion in debates, and would generally be less intelligent.

I must express my deepest thanks to Cat and OCB who first introduced my into this message board, to Wiseman for being a fantastic moderator (and a fascinating person with which to speak about various things), and of course to all the other members of the board who have been here for so long, and who have also participated in all the other interesting topics, and who have also really motivated me to learn more about everything.


In conclusion, I think Granaboard is awesome ^_^

^___^ I'm glad the Granaboard was that useful, I'm glad you're enjoying it, and I'm honored you think that of me. You've been part of the threads I found most interesting since you joined, too.

I think three of the best things of the board are that we talk (and are able to talk) about virtually anything, which makes the board a general discussion, information, and fun hub; that we have the appropiate frame to make friends, being able to talk about anything, including personal and/or mature topics, using the language we would actually use if we talked to each other in real life; and that the majority of our members find the board valuable and unique.

I totally agree with this, I have been learning SO mayn things about life, and I never even thoguht I could express my opinion about the topics we had this clearly. And practising the english language, also helps a lot, and I have real great fun during.
I will never leave the Granaboard, until I have net connection, I can promise that for myself, and for everyone. My life wouldn1t be full without it really.

Let me give my 2 cents to this. Is true, this board, unlike anothers, is the most mature, serius, interesting and funny i've ever met, and i have met some!

i'm administrator in a spanish board, and to say the truth, IT SUCKS, there are other 2 admins there, the board is full of people, but they're not the half as interesting as the people here.

There is no way we have a discussion like here. all of them are very.. how to say... uninteresting for me.

There are tons of random threads, but none is interesting at all. The only way to get a discussion is when there is a trouble between users, and nobody respects the rules, say a thing, and they'll call you dictator or worse because of that. I think they don't know what is a board at all

this is different, the people here is interesting, respectful, The administrator is nice, yet, fair, and makes the rules have a meaning, they're there and he remembers them to you when you fail, not like a monkey, but like someone you can speak with.

Very nice is the Granaboard i have returned to.

IRT Mel: I can agree from this perspective as well. I'm a member of a couple of other forums, but a few days of posting in them, trying to instigate interesting discussions, everyone kinda...ignores me. And talk about stupid, unintersting things.

If it's not a private board, can you post a link? It's been a while since I've been in Spanish boards. I was the most popular poster in a couple Dreamcast boards back in 2000, which were fairly good, but they were all about Dreamcast stuff, not general boards like this. (To Melfice: Lo digo en espa?ol por la frase hecha: Lo que pas? luego es que sega me dej? con el culo al aire, as? que tuve la decencia de pirarme despu?s de haber recomendado la Dreamcast hasta el d?a antes de que los hijoputas de SAGE la sagearan.)

Lol Spanish youth. No wonder the country's getting fucked up. IMHO the best way to face that is to do your job and reply "Yes, this is a fucking dictatorship, like any private board. You cannot flame others [or anything that applies]. Zoomj I'm so 3vil. Got any problems with it?".

Well thank you! I'm honored ^_^. I always tried to keep an enjoyable atmosphere sustained on basic rules so the board would be nice for everyone on every day, while making sure they don't get in the way of our normal activity. And most importantly, I like to think of it as a job: I'm not having fun deleting messages; I'm offering a service to all members by having our rules applied. I try my best to keep this service independent of my own posting (and I'm happiest when I don't have to be more than a normal user). It's been a pleasure to maintain the board, but it's been even better to post at it.
